Caribe's Pedigree

Caribe VSU   LAN03051056   D.O.B. March 30, 2005
Codon 171 QR

Caribe is our Saint Phillip daughter.  Her sire, and her dam, Whittling, were in the Virginia
State University (VSU) Research Flock and were purchased by James Harper originally.
When James gifted the sheep to several members of the BBSAI, Caribe's mother went to
Josh Weimer (the acting president of the BBSAI at the time) with Caribe at her side as a
young lamb.  She traveled from Virginia to Missouri, then when Josh dispersed his flock,
we purchased Caribe and also Red Shanks (another VSU Research Flock purchase by
James Harper) and brought them to Texas in May of 2006.

Caribe has always been an exceptional ewe.  Her first lambing for us produced Lone
Star Becky and Lone Star Waylan, both had beautiful conformation and size and perfect
heads that were completely scur-free. (See Waylan's picture on our "Ram Policy" page).

Next Caribe had a very unusual pregnancy, which I have found in researching, is not as
uncommon as I had originally thought.  On March 4, 2008, Caribe gave birth to Lone
Star Brown Sugar.  Then on April 11, 2008, about five weeks later, she lambed Lone
Star Bacardi, Lone Star Bequais and Lone Star Jolyon.  The concensus with our vet
and the BBSAI was that Caribe had produced quadruplets.

After the quadruplets, Caribe gave birth to Lone Star Harley and Lone Star Don Diego
along with a ewe lamb that did not survive.  Triplets.

Her following delivery produced Lone Star Caracas and Lone Star Havanna.

All of Caribe's lambs have been outstanding specimens of the breed.   All of her
ram lambs have gone on to be herd sires at other breeder's farms.  They are listed
on our "Ewes" page along with Bailey who was born at Josh Weimer's farm, sired
by #13 Calvin.   Most of Caribe's ewe lambs were kept for breeding purposes because
of the consistent quality she produced.  We have let three of her ewe lambs go to other
breeders so her genes could be utilized and dispersed within the breed.

Caribe, as I said, has always been an exceptional ewe and we are proud to say that
she is one of our foundation ewes.  She has always lambed unassisted, and no matter
how many lambs she delivered, we have never had to supplement feed her lambs.  She
always took care of the feeding by herself.  Plus she is a fantastic mother.

     Her pedigree follows.
